10mm Auto (10x22mm)

    The 10mm Auto (10x22mm) is a semi-auto pistol cartridge introduced in 1983.
It was first used by FBI and Police, but was later decommitioned, because it was concluded that this bullet has excess recoil to be used by Police officer in active combat, also the guns created for this bullet were too large for certain short handed users.

To counter this .40 S&W was made, which became rapidly popular because of its size and ballistic capablity. The 10mm auto never got the popularity of its shorter version .40 S&W.
How ever some gun enthusiasts still perfer the 10mm auto.

Performance:
A full performance 10mm auto bullet produces slightly more energy then .357 magnum. The bullet is considered to be high velocity with very less curved flight path.
At its lighter loadings the duplicate the performance of .40 S&W  but its more power full loadings can equal or exceed the performance of .357 Magnum

The 10mm auto is marketed for hunting, and tactical self defence use. The bullet is used as high power calibre defence against humans and animals.
And its perfered by those who want a higher capacity power full semi-auto gun instead of a magnum revolver.

.45 GAP

This pistol cartridge was designed specifically on the request of Glock gun manufacturers. It was designed because the Glock wanted a bullet with similar ballistic performance as .45 ACP but could also fit in more compact pistols.
The GAP there fore means Glock Automatic Pistols.
.45 GAP compaired to .45 ACP

The .45 GAP has the same diameter as .45 ACP but is shorter compared to it, also it has shorter primer compared to .45 ACP. Initial development of .45 GAP had lighter bullet compared to .45 ACP, there fore .45 GAP operates at higher pressure. But because of the smaller size of this bullet the increased pressure of this cartridge was to be obtained through selection of powder only.
The maximum bullet weight for .45 GAP is 15 Grams.

The .45 GAP is quite popular with both civil and law enforcing agencies because of its ability to have ballistic performance of .45 ACP while having its smaller size. Making it a good choice for concealed carry weapons, and machine pistols.

.380 ACP (9x17mm)

The .380 ACP (automatic colt pistol) is a rimless straight walled cartridge designed by John browning.

This bullet was designed for early blowback pistols which lacked barrel locking mechanism. The locking mechanism is unnecessary for .380 ACP since it has relatively low bolt thrust. The recoil spring and slide are enough to buffer the recoil energy of the round.

Since this makes the production of the gun using this bullet simpler, there by reducing the production cost making the gun cheaper. It also allows the barrel to be permanently fixed with the frame, this promotes the accuracy significantly.
Alot of modern weapons are chambered for this bullet including machine-pistols and sub machine guns.
Bullet dimensions

This bullet has seen many wars as its most popular uses were by German officers in WW2 in Walther PPK and by Italian in Beretta M1934.
How ever its not very suitable for active combat because it doesn't provide suitable penetration for combat. But because of its small size and low recoil its quite popular in civilian market for self defence, and is a viable choice for concealed carry pistols.

Performance:
The .380 ACP is light and compact but also has relatively short range and stopping power. But even so it remains popular among ammature shooters who want a light weight gun with manageable recoil.

.357 SIG

The .357 SIG is the product of Sig Sauer. It is actually based on .40 S&W, and has a good reputation for both accuracy and stopping power.

It was developed in 1994, and named "357" because it was intended to duplicate the performance of .357 Magnum bullet (fired through a 4 inch revolver), in a cartridge designed to be used in a semi-auto pistol.

The .40 S&W guns can be converted to .357 SIG by a simple replacing of barrel, but some times recoil spring must be changed as well. Pistols with strong recoil springs can easily be converted by a simple barrel replacement.
.40 S&W magazines can also feed .357 SIG without any difficulty. But before thinking of conversion to this bullet it must be kept in mind that .357 SIG is loaded at higher pressure then .40 S&W, and that is why its not suitable for all .40 S&W guns because of increased bolt thrust.

Because of this bullet was designed to replace .357 magnum bullet, it does provide an equivalent performance with the ability to be used with semi-auto pistols, this gained this bullet high popularity and respect among civil and law enforcing agencies.
How ever this bullet is not as popular as 9mm parabellum, .40 S&W or .45 ACP. There fore only those who actually know about this bullet prefer it. Also it is said that this bullet is only available form high grade gun shops and may not be available from some local town gun shop.
